i talk to him and find out the whole details of what he has all done but i am pretty sure its stock internals and a turbo kit with some fuel managment. i will get an explaination for you
just read this...it's not the octane level that makes you run lean or rich. so when you say that it was running lean before and then you switched to a higher octane, it was not the reason for the change. granted your engine may have had a little knock, but i would scratch that up to not enough/improper tuning as opposed to your engine just plain needing the higher octane. the whole reason that people have been talking to westcoast about the size of his injectors has more to do with running rich or lean.

first off the premium fuel that needs to be run through a usdm b16a2 is 91 the premium fuel that needs to be run through a jdm b16a is 94 so your 89 theory is not enough 91 isnt even enough. that is why i run a mix for 94. i could run 92 its close enough but there is still a little bog. which is gone with the mix

I'm sorry dude, but he's doing something wrong if he has to run 110 just to run right... why do you think they make bolt-on kits for GSRs? Just because the motor is in a civic doesn't mean that turboing it will mess it up. Your buddy needs a tuning or something.
and second of all he is not doing something wrong i gaurantee you. he bought the car the way it was and when he bought it it was only running 15 something. so himself and the shop that all his buddies have retuned the whole car and invested lots of time into it to get it to run right so now it is a second faster without even touching the boost. just from retuning it.

third the gsr motor is in the teg not a civic.

i will add though that what you are saying is correct i just came off wrong cause part of my problem as well was the fuel pump (which i changed out for one from a gsr which flows the same as the what the b16 needs) the octain level is what was causing the knock

ps i stand corrected

pss but i still stand on the higher octain level for the turboed gsr but like i said i will find out details from him for he is a way smarter man than i.

The guy that posted the dyno was ROTW at one time, you can see that here:

His block is also stroked to 2L by ImportBuilders .

Actually... it's not stroked It's been re-sleeved to accomodate 34.5mm pistons That gives me the 2.0 displacement. Nevertheless, dude here is gonna make the power if it's done right. his turbo is more efficient than the one I'm currently running and he already has the larger injectors. One thing that does help me is the 3" exhaust from down-pipe to my 3" Thermal R&D. Also no cat

Peace.
