If you said DOHC with Turbo vs. SOHC with Turbo, you would have more validity in your claims.

Use reasoning, KID.

Point taken. Its all about what you want to spend and what your goals for the car are.

I disagree. B18c5 (or r) might be what 1500$ more than a b18c1 swap... going rate for b18c1 is around 3100$ while i have seen many b18c-r's for under 4600$. So your telling me that wth $1500 you can take a b18c1 and add an LSD, have better gearing, Higher compression, Friction Coated internals, better flowing Head, Intake Mani, Headers (and i forget the other differences). If you can, then more power to you. 2nd, Resale value on type r parts are higher than gsr parts. So when it comes time to upgrade you parts People will be much more inclined to buy type r cams, valves, retainers, pistons, etc over gsr parts so you end up spending less for the aftermarket parts you will buy. Im not here to argue with you, I just dont like when people say the b18c5 is not worth the money when in reality your getting alot for what you pay.

Oh i forgot to add, You also get a red valve cover

oh well, thats just my opinion

How about some clarification for me here. From what everyone is saying there have been two choices given.

1- SOHC motor with a turbo
2-DOHC with a turbo

Now obviously depending on what you want out of your car will depend on what you do. So with that in mind from everyone's comments I am taking those two options to mean this.

If your looking for improving 1/4 mile times than the SOHC w/ turbo is they way to go. If you plan on autocrossing than the DOHC w/ turbo is the way to go. Is this what you guy's are argueing about?

I am basically looking to get a fast low cost car , i am looking to considering just buying that new jg edlebrock turbo kit with a spearco intercooler and victor x maifold for my d16 y8 . It sounds like that will be the best thing for me and i think that would make me in the low 14's mid 13's which is what i want, i just want to be able to keep up with the local stock wrx and local h22a prelude with bolt ons. So if you think that would be the best bet you can tell me if it is , Thank You
