I would go with the B18B (LS non-vtec motor) and GSR tranny, as well add CTR pistons and a Turbo...

THat would be the most economical swap there

Why would he add ctr pistons, arent they high comp pistons? If he was going to get pistons he should get some 9:1 aftermarket pistons.

$795 You can get a B20 longblock for that much, even entire B18A/B swaps! You need to shop around a little more. $550 for the transaxle is obscene.

(talk about back from the dead, this is five months old...)

There is no hype, the B18A/B is a stronger engine.

90-91 B18A 130hp/121ft-lbs
92-93 B18A 140hp/126ft-lbs
94-01 B18B 138-142hp/126ft-lbs (hp depending on year)

With a turbo, it really depends on what pressure and other mods you run.

Compair that to your stock engine and you will notice the B18A/B is by far stronger.

He could run high compression and low boost, but if he wants to boost a lot do low 9:1 compression pistons and built the block. I been doin some research :-)

what about a b20? its 2 liters and ive heard with boost they can be amazing. it has a lot a torque too. its not too harsh on the wallet. what are the cons of this swap? all ive heard is that the sleaves arent very strong...i dunno.

The sleeves arent a problem under 15 psi. Seems like a pretty good engine and more displacement should make more power.
