Yeah, like I said, it depends on the situation - the course, pads, tires, car mass, ambient temp, etc. all affect braking performance. My point is that you can't rule out drilled rotors simply based on mass or swept area.

Anyway, I wouldn't suggest using anything other than blanks on a daily driver, so this is getting a little off-topic.

I live in Florida, and have been to Sebring a few times for the 12 hour race. It's pretty impressive seeing them come off a full bore straight and bring them down for a hairpin. The rotors are glowing orange, everything had better be perfect! My other favorite track is Road Atlanta, I've been to the Petit LeMans twice. I got some incredible early morning video walking through the pits as drivers were firing their cars, pulling out for their 7:30 am practice. Gives you real respect for what brakes are for, and awesome machines, they're running huge composite rotors

I've been to VIR (Virginia INternational Raceway). And you definitely need to show up with better than stock brakes. It was my 1st track day and I didn't know what to expect. Considering the internet wasn't as mature back then as it was now. I showed up with Brembo Blanks, fresh Valvoline synpower fluid, and AEM pads. Lost my brakes about the 3rd lap

That's scary. You managed to boil a synthetic fluid?! Or possibly did they glaze up on you, did you break them in on some practice laps first?

I did both. Boiled the fluid and glazed my pads. Scary thing it was!
