The cars are great when they're serviced properly. Maybe this could be some indication of that (from a '92 VX)...

PS... welcome to HAN! :wavey:

It all depends on how it was taken care of. If it's been well maintained, you're golden. If it hasn't, well you can still probably keep it running for a while. My guess is that if it has 200k and isn't burning oil, smoking, shifting poorly, it's probably a keeper.

If something does blow up, the whole drivetrain can be replaced for around $500. Good luck

BTW, what model is it? (Si, dx, cx, vx?)

o btw i had preveiously owned a 89 legend coupe, it had alot of pick up im just wondering if with just a few mods i can get this civic to be the same if not faster?

Nope. Let it be and enjoy the economy.

There are plenty of ways to make this car (way) faster than a legend, but since it is a dx, they pretty much all involve swapping the motor to something else. I would leave well enough alone if it's just a commuter. (says the guy who's had 3 different engines in his hatchback h: )

Throwing a turbo on a random 200k car is pretty stupid if reliability factors into the equation at all.

But, to elaborate:

There is no such thing as "throwing on a turbo" you'll need a manifold, plumbing, engine mangeagment, if you're smart an intercooler, etc etc etc. You're looking at at least $1000 if you're good at shopping. The d16z6 found on the EX and Si models will make a good deal more power given the same bolt-ons. My opinion on the matter: use the motor for what it was designed for. A d15b7 was never meant to be anything other than a reliable grocery getter. Yes, it can be turboed, but in the end you'll have a car that is still slower than most of what's out there, and you'll take your reliable 35mpg and turn it into an unreliable 25mpg (depending on how you use your right foot h: )
