Thats what im talkin about bro!!! Its funny how people talk about their cars then you ask what they got done and if they're sure they know the guy did it right. Of course they have no clue. I guess not all are blessed with the skill so you cant completely blame em.

As for the CV axle, Both sides blew out at 190K miles on mine. 100k miles later, still havent replaced them. Still works. It Just makes a clicking sound. Just dont turn and gas it at the same time.lol... Im Just too lazy to switch em out on my beater, maybe because i know i can?

Some of you are gonna slap me for not switchin em out. But I like to see my civic as an engineering marvel. You'll be surprised what a beating these cars can take.

I'm having the same problem with my 99' Civic LX. Both axles replaced @ 119K, just replaced Left axle again (138K), same "clunking," noise coming from frontend- not a "clicking," noise. Car is rock stock, 'cept AEM intake. I jacked car up, wheels off ground; there's a little "play," shaking wheels side to side (both rims) w/ hands on tires @ 3 and 9 o'clock position. No "play," w/ hands @ 6 and 12 o'clock position. Is it the RACK? No leak from rack. My parts guy says there a huge market right now for lower control arms, he sells at least 4 a week. Will check brake dust shield and rotor. Any info helpful. Thanks You All.

When shaking it in and out, look at the tie rod ends, the thread part of it. If the threaded portion is slipping in/out that's when you know you have a bad tie-rod. Check out the bushings and see if they are corroded. Honestly, only experience will teach you to spot things like bad suspension components, so I'd recommend you to get a friend or someone who has experience diagnosing stuff. Its hard to help without actually looking at it.

Also, I wouldnt be completely shocked if your axles took a shit again, especially if they're refurbished ones.

I dont know why people never realize this, but many shops will check it out for you free of charge. As someone mentioned, Aamco will do a free inspection. I ussually go to a shop first, regardless of knowing the problem or not and then fix it, if I can.
