Turbos work using exhaust gases so the faster your car goes the faster the gases flow through the piping in which they turn the turbine faster.
Deciding which is better? Supercharging has limits. Can only really make as much power as the pulleys that are running them and there is a limit at which how fast that pulley can spin or you're going to have parts flying everywhere

Turbos is basically unlimited on how much power you want to make, and is more dependant on the internals of your engine. The more boost you go, the more chances you have of blowing up your engine.
Turbo is the better choice for most 4 cylinder honda's. Turning that pulley is inefficient for a Honda. Turbo increases the efficiency of the motor, when I say efficiency I mean, you are using the waste of the motor to produce more power. Turbo is gonna be your best option I would say.

It would also come down to the tranny you have in it.

What are my risks of tearing the subframe if I don't get the Beaks SRK?

I would say depending on what conditions are in your area. Most of the subframe tear outs I heard happened was when people tried to go up a steep driveway or over a speed bump at an angle. Personally if you want it done correctly and with peace of mind I would get the Beaks SRK.
