everybody saying "oh with a SOHC you can only do so much..." well to you i point to many of my friends who race v-8's and say to you... with a 4 cyl you can only do so much SO WHY BOTHER... and at that point hopefully you realize how lame what you are saying is...

i really don't think there are a whole lot of people on this board cracking levels with a DOHC that a SOHC could not be built to....... i still don't understand the HUGE push to DOHC... i mean im SURE that it makes the car faster... but with 3 thousand i could assemble a motor built EXACTLY like i want it, and to me that is better than a STOCK dohc.... because in my case i like spray... and a SOHC built for nitrous will be able to take more than a STOCK DOHC.. YES a BUILT DOHC WILL TAKE MORE... BUT thats 3000 then another 3-4 thousad in a build.... and back to the earlier statement... there are not TOO many people doing that....... so i think that we should shut up for a second and more closely examine EACH situation before ALWASY SAYING SWAP SWAP SWAP...

wow must be tuned well....the 10 pound guys are close to 200 whp, i don't imagine an extra 2 pounds would yield 250 whp. I just want to make about 180 daily and 200 track once i get my fmic and turn up the boost

All i know is that it wasn't cheap to get the 250 out of his sohc.

This is his second attempt at turboing his sohc and he was making a lil over 210whp on the first setup.

should be cheaper than any B series turbo setup....well execpt maybe a LS turbo, i know a few guys that are 250whp on stock internals. But when you start with a dirt cheap motor and just add pistons/rods/block guard/thicker head gasket you're pretty much set to go.

It all comes down to personal taste.I got lucky swapping and got a good motor,as did many and sure you can build up a sohc, but really it's gonna cost pretty close to what a swap would(after you include turbo) and from what I've seen the majority of people can't tear down a motor and rebuild it as fast as they could just pull a motor. So to everyone thinking about getting more power,SOHC or DOHC, think about what you need your car for as opposed to what would be nice next time some dork revs on ya.
