lies...maybe more reliable but definetely not faster or cheaper. I have yet to lose to a B16 swapped car yet and i'm only running 5.5 pounds on a slipping clutch unintercooled. I beat GSR's a good 3-4 cars. I've also beaten a modded celica gts, modded spec v, svt focus, new civic si, v6 tiburon, chipped 1.8T etc etc...if you got the motor then turboed it then it would be better but a bolton swapped b16 or gsr isn't gonna be that impressive.

I also am not a fan of the SOHC. I personally would get a swap. The sounds of DOHC vtec will soothe you... With a new engine, you will have a much better foundation for a turbo or SC. My new goal is getting a GSR motor swapping the crank and rods with LS parts for the added stroke. Someone on this forum got me worked up on that idea.

DOHC is overrated. 3000 for a 160hp or 3000 for a built boosted SOHC. If your gonna make monster power (300+hp) then yea, deffinetely DOHC. But if you just want speed, and not monster speed, then 200whp with a SOHC is do-able.

In the long run a swap will be more reliable. But building a SOHC isn't bad. For the amount you put in that swap, you could have descent amounts of horsepower in your car.

Yes, but there is a glass ceiling when building up a stock motor (nonDOHC). You can only do so much to them.

That's the reason I like DOHC motors, so much more potential.

Ya, but we're talking within a reasonable amount of money here. Someone with an endless supply of cash could get a lawnmower engine to do 12s one way or another.
