Suspension setup civic
I just purchased Tein SS coilovers w/ upper mount. They'll be here in about a week, I can't wait!
^^ well i found that when i threw the front on with 1" finger gap between the tire and the well i had ZERO shock travel. the bumpstop was resting on the koni shock body!! wtffffffffffffff. this is with stock forks, stock tophats, standard run of the mill koni with 340/250 gc's.(gc stock rates). i'm sooo ticked right now. i still have like 2" of available space below on the coilover. not that i would use that, 1 finger gap is the lowest i would go but i mean the car isn't even "dumped" and there is literally no shock travel. ugh. so i'm going to have to take it all out and weld up some extended top hats and ride at 2 finger gap for now i guess? idk what's wrong with this setup but it's definitly not driveable

hmm.... I don't quite understand what you mean. When you say there is no shock travel, that makes it sound like the coilover is too low and the shock is being compressed such that the bump stop is resting on the shock. Is that right? If thats the case, maybe you mixed up the front and rear coilovers? The front should have the stiffer spring rate. Its 2AM over here... maybe I'm just too tired. I'll re-read it again in the morning and maybe I'll understand it better. A picture might help if you have a camera.
i've got the rear setup on my pool table here. spring rates on the rears are 44 which when i talked to ground control was 250lb/inch. so that's correct for the rears. and the sleeves i kept together with the coil when i took it out of the box.
when the car is lowered on the ground with 1 finger gap between the top of the tire and the fender if you peek behind the tire and look at the suspension you can see the koni strut fully compressed up to the bumpstop. the bumpstop keeps the care from bottoming out. so if the shock is already touching the bumpstop that means i'm basically bottoming out the strut just at a stand still.
i'll see what i can do about getting a picture

OTS (off the shelf) Koni Yellows are not meant to drop more than about 2" or so from stock. I had this setup on my 00 Civic Si. Sounds like you have it dumped (if you cannot see the tops of the shoulders of the tires, it's too low).
Can go with Ground Control extended Top Hats or raise the car a little.

no i have the car at 1 finger gap between the tire and the fender in the front and about 2 finger gap between the tire and 1/4 panel in the rear.
here's a picture of how i sit the front. the wheel being turned makes the gap look wider but it's about 1 finger gap from the top of the tire to the fender

... so you shouldn't need a new topmount but it might help.
This thread might help a bit:

I know this might sound like a stupid question, but are you using your stock bump stop? Because, generally you have to cut it. Also, what spring rate are you front coils?
ps. Nice brake setup you've got there!

stock bumpstops cut after the second bump. so they are about 2" in length.
i don't understand what's going on, as you can see from the picture the car is not "dumped". there is about 2" of room on the coilover BELOW where i have it set.
ps. thanks for the compliment ;-) it's probably the biggest setup you can fit under a 14" wheel. my car's a daily so i needed something to fit under my winter steelies lol
