And to whoever said they weren't impressed with Neons at the autocross – Neons are one of the best autocross and road race cars! If you go to an SCCA road race, there are a ton of Neons. The ACR Neons come from the factory with Konis and they handle awesome. While I'm not about to rush out and buy one, they're going to be fast. That's like saying a V6 Mustangs are just as good as the Mustang Cobras!

Well, with the proper suspension, a "regular" Neon can be a force to be reckoned with.
And, yes, Dodge did make a lot of good turbo cars in the 1980's. 2.2 and 2.5 turbos were very fast (Omni GLHS anyone?). And there's that guy in Illinois with the 13-second caravan … that's crazy.

with the right driver behind the wheel, just about any car can be a force to be reckoned with.

He was involved in an accident, some one hit him
Sucks I really liked what he did with his caravan and Spirit.

how in the world do you come up with the conclusion that a mustang gt is within a few tenths of a s2k or 350Z? A stock mustang gt is like a mid 14 second car. As far as i know the 350Z and S2k are easily into the 13's stock. Hell my friends 2k2 maxima 6 spd with nothing but an injen cai and some SSR comps pulled a 14.1. I can tie a mustang GT in my 00 ex civic pushing 5 pounds of boost...they aren't that fast. I'd say a cobra (not the 03 sc) one is more in the league of a s2k or 350Z.

First of all, how can you compare a neon to a 350Z or an S2000? Are you that ignorant? And a mustang GT is about a second off a an S2000. My brother in law has 2002 GT and it runs low 15's all day and maybe a high 14 with an excellent driver and that with an intake and flowmasters. This car will be no were near that speed in production form. Remember the Vspec? What was it they said it would put out in production form, 185HP? Whatever. Mark my words, it will be a high 14 second car in production form. And the next person I see compare this piece of **** to an S2000 or a 350Z will be an ignorant fool in my book forever.

Read it and weep bro. And it's all done with a td04 supposedly. And it's only being compared in straightline performance. Geez, don't get your panties in a bunch. Neon's aren't that bad. I've seen some REALLY fast one's. And I'm not biased either because I hate DSM with a passion. I just don't understand why Honda doesn't do anything to counter this. Instead they sell their 16 sec Si at the same price. 
As for your Vspec comment, if you go back in history, American car producers have always underrated their cars performance. I don't know why but it was pretty common in the 68-71 muscle cars and the new LS1's. Even SCC said those numbers were to the wheels!
