Which ever engine you pick I say you build it yourself, because giving it to someoe else to build is no fun.

It may end up being more money but you'll have the pride of saying "Hey, I have a b18c1 that I fully built!" Instead of "Oh I took it to some guy around that corner over there and he built it!"

I bet it would keep up with the lude though. And then when you get some more money boost it and kill that lude making him wish he would go end his life.

no difference in the blocks other than some oil squirters & crap.

I run ran 12's last year with my b18a (non-vtec) stock sleeves. It's got more left in it too, coz that was only at 12psi.

Don't really like non-vtec blocks. Mmm, i do want to work on the car, but i don't have a place to do it. actually i have a friend who's a car dealer who has an engine hoist, and a compressor for air tools, but i don't know how he would feel if i took his garage space for a couple of month.. since i can only work on it during the weekends. i could just drag it into the garage, and drag it out.. but i dont know how well that's going to go while i try to act like frogger taking the car from the lot to the garage.

I did NOT say that non-vtec blocks are worse, or that you can't make them vtec, i said i don't LIKE non-vtec blocks.

don't tell me to go inform myself more when i know what i'm tlaking about and i am going out and researching more. This is to ask you if the deal is worth it for what he is giving me, not if i'm making the best choice going with a b16 block.

I'm not brushing you off and i'm not telling you your skills suck, or you don't have good ideas, but they're not pertaining to my question.
Please just answer my question, and don't tell me wat's in my better interest, because you don't know enough to say what's going to be my better interest. I might not know alot about B18b's or b18a's but that's because I don't care for that engine.

yes i do.. hence the 'b-series' i want something that has a vtec already on it so i don't have to mess with it. or so atleast i know where everything is hooked up so i can mess with it and have no trouble putting it back together.
