Not sure how much it cost, but I'm bettin it was more than I'll make in about 5 years. My friend took me to this guy's engine shop where they had two civics with b18c engines, one was a monster of gargantuan proportions. Dunno how built it was or anything, but they were boosting it safely at 35psi. God knows how much HP that thing was pushin out. It was a huge breath of fresh air since there's about 95% ricers in this area. I'd love to see anyone laugh at that thing.

I personally have no crew, and few people I even talk to. Even less of them are really into cars. So I don't have to worry about getting laughed at by people. Unless I can't see em, and in that case, f*ck em.

redcivic: My car probably runs in the 16-18 area. I know this. I know my car is slow as hell. When I go to the track, I'll be going to test my gains. Now, I know I can't beat anyone in a race, I know this. So what the hell would give you the right to laugh at someone like me just for even being there sending my car down the strip?

You wanna test gains? Take that **** out to back road somewhere. Unless you are slapping some sort of F.I. on, or unless you had some mojor head work, what's the point? It's still slow? My problem is that I go to the track and I have to wait whille all the dip**** neons and civics run their pieces of ****s down the track which limits the amount of runs I can get in. I park and here come all the ricers, "hey man, what you got?", "oh, yeah, I just got a Greddy evo on my stock CRX and I'm gonna race my boy in his stock EX" Then the first two ricers run and ****, here come the chuckles from the numerous mustangs and f bodies lined up waiting. I mean the chuckling stops once some imports beat up on some domestics but it still makes the whole scene look bad in my opinion. If you wanna race you car then don't be ****ing half ass, and get some real power. If you can't afford it then save your pennies. I don't see why these kids spend thousands on their civics and still have slow cars. If you wanna car that looks good then fine. But keep your ass off the track if you are not serious about racing.

Ya know what? Those ricers paid their money just like everyone else at that track, and they have a right to be there. The dude with a ford festiva, and a geo metro have a right to be there if they want. It don't matter if your cars stock or f/i. I'd rather go to the track before i get f/i so i get used to the way the track runs, practice launches, etc...

People like you don't help the "ricers" out any either. Import enthusiasts need to stick together, 'cause domestic owners sure don't like us (some do, but most hate our jap crap cars).

We all have to realize that "fast" is a relitive term. What do you consider fast? Do you judge it by 1/4 mile, lap time at a road track? How many people you've "smoked" on the street?

Personally, I look mostly at 1/4 mile times. I think a 14-second civic is movin' pretty good. A 14-second Mustang, on the other hand, seems kinda slow. At the same time, I think a 10 second Chevelle, GTO, Nova, whatever is fast – but a 10-second Civic is insane!

The bottom line is if you're happy with what you drive, screw everyone else. The Civic is a great car for so many reasons, just as other cars (even my old Focus) was a good car for certain reasons (I could get tons of stuff in it, it was fun to drive).

Not everyone is going to like you car, but as long as you do, then it's all good.

saving is what I'm doing. Not everyone can have easy access to a swap while getting paid 6.75 an hour, dip****. If I pay to be at that track, I have just as much a right as your whiney ass does. So sit down, STFU and deal with it. Drop your holier-than-thou attitude and remember what your civics were like before a swap. I want power, and I'm damn serious about racing, but at the moment I just can't afford it. I'd rather not be paying CC bills until 2004 trying to pay for the engine that I can save for in about 10 months.

Isn't it good to go to the track before you start putting serious engine mods/FI in it to get a baseline?? Then you can have something to compare to and see the results of your mods? Correct? I'm sure your Civic wasn't always fast Redcivic. These people are just starting out probably, so give them a break.

fully, str8edge. I bought my civic like... 4 months ago. I just got my new job about 3 weeks ago. I put an intake on my stock motor just so I can say I've at least got a few performance mods with this crap engine. In any case. I think mr. redcivic there has been shushed by the masses :fawk:

civic's are very cost efficient for both looking nice and going fast..
$15,000 can build a street/show civic that can run 13s.. or $15,000 can get you a stock 'stang.. i'd take the civic route any day
I speak from experience when saying that if you want to go fast, the Civic route is not the one to take. I've been down both roads. The people that I know with Civics that are genuinely into speed don't do it to be fast, but to be faster than people that think they're slow. I was happy when I bought my Si for 13K, and thought it was fast, did some stuff to it. Sold that, bought a 5th gen EX, swapped it, it was faster than my Si even with the 55 shot of ZEX. Wrecked that, and decided if I wanted speed I'd have to buy something that was fast stock, so I bought an 87 5.0. I'll never look back. On my Stangs worst day it's faster than my hybrid was. Plus I paid only $5,000 for it including $1,000 for a new clutch because the clutch died 4 hours after I bought the car. Hybrid's best time, 14.6. This car's best time on the day when it wasn't making power past 4,000 rpm, 14.4. Mustang's best time to date? 13.5@102.78. That's with $5,000 total invested. You tell me which one is more cost efficient. And it's not about reliability either, because the only reason that this car's been giving me problems is because whomever did the mass air flow sensor conversion did a crappy job. I have to rewire that. With a short shifter, taller gears and some slicks this car will see 12s. That'll be with $5,500 invested.

looks like you've got my number on that...

u seem to be an exception b/c popular belief (and an example that my friend's 2002 mustang has already broken down) says that mustangs (and most domestics in general) have a bad reputation in terms of reliability.. you're an exception

once again, i never doubted that you can make a mustang 5.0 fast as hell for little money, i simply disregarded them in my post b/c they are (generally) known to be unreliable and well.. this might be opinion, but many ppl think they are ugly.. all the 5.0's i see around town are dirty, have different colored body parts, rusted out, broken headlights, bad tint job, and look just plain ghetto.. i couldn't picture a 5.0 in a car show, no offense.. but i must you that you have done a good job with your car, i respect your ride totally
