Default Anybody ever bought a cheap ebay turbo?

I got about 2500 to spend in my b16 and im thinking one of those cheap ebay kits with everything to support about 7-8 psi. If the the turbo and manifold crap it has a 1 year warrenty and i'll be getting some better shit come tax time nyways. So if you have bought one of those cheap kits give me a halla.
I saw someone say that some have good luck with em some dont but i want some first person feedback.

if you have 2500 to spend why waste your money on a shitty kit, peice it together your self here are some websites for you

tunnertoys.com
homemadeturbo.com

hell for tht price you can get a shitty greddy kit

if you have money comming in for taxs then i say use some of the money you have now and build your engine, then you can run 12 to 15 psi instead of 6 or 7psi

BOOST IS VERY ADDICTING, when you car throughs you back in the seat you are gonna want more

2500 aint much when u need injectors, regulator, fuel rail, fuel pump, cluth assembley, light weight flywheel, all gauges and sensors, and im going to get an exhaust bypass and a custom exhaust. THen i have to pay a muffler shop to put it on. I figured the only thing in the kit that was shitty was the turbo and manifold so i could replace those when taxes come around.

....ok. u dotn need a fuel rail, or a fuel pressure regulator, or a lightened flywheel and what sort of gauges and sensors are u talking about. u can build a nice kit for cheap, i built my first kit for under 1700 and i used all nice parts.. as far as ebay turbos go, ive heard good things, bad things, and very bad things. i think it has to do with the owner and how well the car is maintianed and how its driven. just start doing research there chief. be a lil troll and camp out on honda-tech;'s forced induction forum and also homemadeturbo.com. it takes time to do this shit

Good luck with that, most cheap ebay companies do not honor their warranties. Those things have near zero resale value, too.

ssautoshit turbos will crap its seals in a month or so and there manifolds will ALWAYS crack, when it will crack varies but it will. Yea they MIGHT honor there warrenty but then your sending your shit back, waiting for another pos to come back, and your good for another month. One thing you will learn very quickly, is that in a turbo set up there are some things you can cheap out on pretty easily, but things like the turbo, manifold, and down pipe should be items you invest the most in. Id seriusly reccomend doing ALOT of research before you get started because the more you know the less the whole experience will cost you.

Lightend flywheels will actually hurt the performance of a turbo vehical, I have one installed on my Sol right now and learned from a trusted local tuner the negative effects of a lightend anything on a turbo setup has. plenty of people making over 400+hp on the stock fuel rail. A mild set up doesnt need a fuel pump. Exhaust cut outs are novelty items, and ive come to agree with the masses that a 3in exhaust is the nicer alternative.

DSM 450cc injectors are 60$ on ebay and can handle about 14psi which you won't even be near seeing as how you haven't listed internals. A stock regulator is fine. Fuel rails are a waste of money. A Walbro 255lph fuel pump is 90$ shipped on most forums. I'll agree with you on the clutch setup. You don't need a lightweight flywheel, and if anything a Fidanza is like 150$. The only gauges you'll need is oil pressure and boost and a wideband, which I got all three for 366$. Exhaust bypasses aren't necessary at all. With the boost levels you'll be running a 3" downpipe and exhaust will be over sufficient.

Then do more research before you blow 2500$ on useless crap.
