I have a B18B in my '96 DX. Don't let anyone fool you; the car won't win any NHRA titles, but with i/h/e and a type-r tranny I'm running 14's. If your new engine is a different OBD generation than your car, just buy the correct USDM harness. Should only cost you about $100 on ebay. You'll still need the adaptor harness to plug in the under-dash wiring harness, but the cost of the correct engine harness, to me, is low enough to make not having to cut and solder 100 wires worth it.
The rest of this post is only relevant to you if the new engine is the same OBD as your car. Your car is OBD2B, so if the engine is the same, use your car's existing harness. As for the IACV problem, check this link. Works like a champ. http://www.ff-squad.com/tech/wiring/wiring.96-98.jpg
Other than rewiring the IACV, you'll need to extend the wires on the injectors and the O2 sensors. I'm pretty sure that's it. Maybe the MAP sensor too, but I don't really remember. I do remember that I gave myself 6 hours to do the wiring for this project and it only took about 45 minutes. Have fun and congratulations on your swap.

If the engine you are installing is a different OBD generation than your car, then yes, you should buy a harness. Either get a harness from an RS/LS Integra of the correct OBD or a non-VTEC Civic. And with your inexperience with wiring I would recommend the one from the Integra. Unless you really want to do the wiring.

ok was wondering if a P.P. clutch and flywheel from a B16a1 fit this motor http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...k/DSCF1463.jpg also would Gsr axles fit or would i have to get the same axles for the motor?

B-series parts are B-series parts (except for '88-'91 Preludes). Everything will fit.

i would say if u r going to go threw the hasle of putting a b serises motor in at least go for a b20 instead of a b18 all the same just alittle more toruqe which is most imporant for the start (i also have a 98 civic coupe and am pulling out the stock 1.6 vtec and putting in a b20 and after a couple months i am buying a gsr head for it that what i would do if i was u)

Adding VTEC to a B20 can be dangerous. It's a long-stroke engine, which means that it will not hold up to high revs. The redline is 6200 rpm, so unless you have VTEC engage really early (which kind of negates the purpose) you'll only safely get to run in VTEC for about 1000 rpm. That would be about half a second. Sure, if you want to sleeve the block and run forged everything you'll be able to rev it a little, but then you're talking some serious money for sleeving. The B18B still makes decent torque (for a Honda) and for what he wants from his car I still think it's the way to go. Besides, he wants to go turbo anyway, which will only help his torque curve. Stick with the B18.

go with a obd2 b18b1 swap. direct plug in, just finished mine, and runs great. will make more power with a ls/ vtec or boost.
