Adding VTEC to a B20 can be dangerous. It's a long-stroke engine, which means that it will not hold up to high revs. The redline is 6200 rpm, so unless you have VTEC engage really early (which kind of negates the purpose) you'll only safely get to run in VTEC for about 1000 rpm. That would be about half a second. Sure, if you want to sleeve the block and run forged everything you'll be able to rev it a little, but then you're talking some serious money for sleeving. The B18B still makes decent torque (for a Honda) and for what he wants from his car I still think it's the way to go. Besides, he wants to go turbo anyway, which will only help his torque curve. Stick with the B18.
