Default NGK Iridium Spark Plugs

Iridium Spark Plugs

Iridium is a precious, silver-white metal and one of the densest materials found on earth. The natural properties of Iridium offered NGK the opportunity to create one of the world's finest spark plugs. The result are spark plugs that require less voltage to spark, burns fuel more efficiently, sparks at leaner air/fuel mixtures, and delivers higher horsepower and better gas mileage.

NGK offers two choices of this precious metal plug:

The Iridium - A high quality iridium plug installed as original equipment (OE) in the automotive industry since 1994, and the new Iridium IX® - The ultimate evolution of a performance spark plug.
Are they really worth it, or would it be better just to stick with platinum spark plugs??

Thanks!

OEM is NGK. Stick with those.

I had Denso plugs. They sucked.

iridium privdes a colder spark you really only need them when boostin even though schmoo isnt using them, i use denso iridums but i think they perform the same as the oem ngk r's but more expensive so just use the ngk r's

That little piece of iridium on the tip has been known to melt off, go into the combustion chamber and distroy cylinder walls.

NGK copper is my plug of choice because it has a more consistent spark, stronger spark, and they are cheaper than iridium plugs. Yes, they have to be changed every 6k miles, but you can't get better performance.

Yes, they come pregapped, but I always double check. Plus, I have to close the gap up a bit to .030" to avoid misfiring under boost.

I get them at www.clubplug.net. One heat range colder is BKR7E. Stock would be BKR6E, I would assume.

so for my b16 what do you think would be the best gap and heat range, keep in mind im not boosted yet the turbos still in my room i have to save some more b/c i want bigger injectors and want to dump the emanage for a s200, so i would just be puttin plugs in N/a for the time being.
