make a thread in the engine tech and tuning board, seriously, they'd be better at helping you from this point on

UPDATE !!! I just checked the vtec solenoid. It does open and close currectly. I hooked up a piece of wire from the positive side of the battery to where the green/yellow wire connects to the solenoid and it worked fine. now i am really stumped.

Are the spool valve oil screens clean? Maybe the oil pressure isn't allowing it to know that it needs to kick in because the screens are clogged. Look in the manual about the spool valve. There is an o-ring where the spool valve bolts to the head and another filter between the top and botom halves of the spool valve....

I would try another ecu. That sounds like the problem.

current update. ended up cleaning everything in and around vtec solenoid, flushed fuel lines and did a quick oil change. VTEC is NOW WORKING. Here is the key though. Last i remember, about 1 week ago, vtec engaged at 5,500 RPM sharp, now it is lagging and engaging at about 6050 - 6100 RPM's. What can I do to drop that number back down ??? like i said, sorry for the noob questions when it comes to vtec, i thought i knew it better then i really do. i understand what it does, just not exactly how it works.

THanks

If you have access to another ECU, I'd swap it out (next time it fails) and see if that fixes it.

in my coupe with a gsr swap i could hear and feel vtec so i dont know why they are saying you shouldnt feel it, if you dont feel it then its obviously not working properly or you have a beat up motor , but i had a similar issue with vtec engagement in my car before and i swapped the ecu and it fixed everything so try that...
