baH.. i just explained what double clutching was at the beginning of the thread.. let me show you guys a few scenarios

first scenario, you're approaching a turn going about 40mph and you're in 4th gear.. you want to down shift into second gear so you can accelerate through the turn. this is when you double clutch: push the clutch down, shift into neutral, release clutch, rev engine to high RPM, push clutch down, shift into second, accelerate through turn... you should notice a smooth transition from 4th to 2nd.. this is good for your tranny

second scenario, if you didn't use double clutching: approaching turn going 40mph in 4th gear, you push the clutch down, shift from 4th to 2nd, release clutch, the car jerks forward like a ***** and it's bad for your tranny and your RPMs just jumped about 4k all of a sudden.. this is what happens when you downshift and don't double clutch

end of discussion.

Ok this thread is overkilled. You don't need to double clutch on newer cars with syncros. YOu need to learn how to heel-toe shift now

well you dont need to put it into neutral to rev match. thats rev matching..

just keep it in 4th, touch the gas to shoot the rpms up (rev matching) then just put it in second.

lol i think taking the clutch out just to rev match is pointless. its a lot of foot work that could be executed with just pushing in the clutch and blipping the throttle.

heel/toe is hard as hell. I feel like I'm trying to break dance while coming into a turn...scary as hell.

darrenemo: the "double clutched rev matching" your talking about skipping the middle part, doesn't really take that long to execute. not worth burning the clutch over.

crucial: I'm not sure what thats called, if not "driving like an ass" sounds like a good way to put a b series in your car though.

drifting is funner than all of the above. actually phug that, drift and doublerev during the slide then smoke it out of the turn.
