Default 02 Sensor

How do I remove the o2 sensor, I tried to just pull it out but it didnt come out. Or do I just need a little elbow grease into it h: ? Is there something I need to unscrew? Thanks

This is essentially what an O2 sensor looks like when it isn't installed in your exhaust:

You either need to get the 22mm (I think) wrench or the specialized O2 sensor socket with the notch in it to remove the sensor. A crescent wrench will work, but I always worry about them rounding off the corners.

I just need to be able to unscrew the bottom part that stick out of the headers so I can take that header cover crap off the headers. Could I just use th 22mm wrench?

You shouldn't have to remove the O2 sensor to take the heat shield off of your header (singular for Honda - FYI).

If that's what you're talking about...

I do have to remove the heat shield because when i took the 4 screws off the heat shield it wouldn't come off because of the O2 sensor. But it's cool i'll just leave it on till I get some new headers.

Why don't you just un-plug the electrical connector for the o2 sensor, and feed the wire through the hole on the heat shield so you don't have to remove the o2 sensor from the exhaust.

Clearance issue?

If so, crank the car up, turn the AC on, rev it at 3000 RPMS until the exhaust is hot and the engine is FULLY warmed up. Hit it with a 22mm crescent wrench (using the closed-end side) and it will come out much easier.... either that or put your purse down first. :reechy: j/k

HAH!

Yea, I let my car run for about 15 minutes and hit it the base of the o2 sensor with a rubber mallet and it came right out. Also before you remove it, unclip the wiring harness to uh release tthe tention or something.

Did you unplug the wiring and try to remove the heat shield? Is there any particular reason you want to remove the heat shield other than for looks?
