bad ECU maybe? i'm not real experienced in this area, but is there another way to reset the ECU? it seems like the problem is with that because from what i know you're ECU shouldn't get any codes until the engine is running...without the data from the sensors on the running engine you can't have any errors...just my 2 cents...keep us posted.

Yea, seems like the thing got the 21 code and won't wipe it clean when I try to reset.

Quite honestly I do not reset my ECU when I have a code. I recently had a TPS code because I forgot to plug it back in when replacing various things. When I plugged it back in and restarted the car, the code was gone.

I think people put too much into this 'resetting the ECU' business. h:

Well. I talked to a guy at Westbrook Honda. He said when the wire shorted it could have damaged the vtec part of the ECU. So he's going to test it with me and throw a dummy harness and ecu on there and see what happens. This is literally tearing me apart haha. I went from no experience to putting in an engine and it started up not one problem, one week later this happend. And I'd HATE to give someone else my money to fix something, but I'm on the last rung of the ladder.

thanks a bunch shmoo and WCS.

EDIT~I hate bullshit. I call up the honda place and the guy was like well it's gonna be 68$ to diagnose the ecu. And I said well, its throwing code 21, vtec selinoid valve, the terminal to ground has continuity, the termnial plug to the ecu pin has continuity, the A4 terminal to ground has continuity, it's either the ECU or selinoid. And it's like the guy didnt hear me or something. But I'm gonna go on the garage floor with them and watch there every move, I'm not gonna let them slack off, or do other things.

Does someone have the same ECU locally that you could slap on there for a second to see if the code goes away?
