Default 97 vtec question

okay this maybe a dumb question but i bought a used 97 civic ex so it should have the vtec (i think) but when i popped the hood it doesnt say vtec on it does this mean its not a vtec. Or how do i know if it is or not. OH and has anyone replaced axle bearings before and if so how hard is it?

thanks

I dont think ALL ex's have Vtec. If it's a front wheel bearing..i think it might be a little difficult only because it has to be pressed out, but im not 100% sure.

if it's an EX, it has vtec, not all the sohc vtec engines said vtec on the valve cover. mostly just the del sol's with sohc vtec did.

unless it's from canada. then no.

as mention not all valve covers say vtec on them, check the engine code if it says Y8 then it is. im betting it is all EX civics came with SOHC D16Y8 vtec engines

or you could look for the upside down, small, metal shot glass looking thing that is to the left and behind the head. Its your vtec solenoid.

Im waiting for someone to say "If your spark plugs are in the front, its vtec"........so I can say theyre wrong.
