97 vtec question
okay this maybe a dumb question but i bought a used 97 civic ex so it should have the vtec (i think) but when i popped the hood it doesnt say vtec on it does this mean its not a vtec. Or how do i know if it is or not. OH and has anyone replaced axle bearings before and if so how hard is it?
thanks
thanks

as mention not all valve covers say vtec on them, check the engine code if it says Y8 then it is. im betting it is all EX civics came with SOHC D16Y8 vtec engines
that tells you the engine you have but im sure you are rolling on vtec
this is what your car should have
Engine Code D16y8
D16Y8 ==1.6 16V SOHC VTEC-II PGM-FI 1590 127hp@6600rpm 107tq@5500rpm '96-'00 Civic EX (USA)

or you could look for the upside down, small, metal shot glass looking thing that is to the left and behind the head. Its your vtec solenoid.
Im waiting for someone to say "If your spark plugs are in the front, its vtec"........so I can say theyre wrong.
