97 vtec question

Best way to tell:

1) Get an aftermarket intake (either short ram or cold air work)
2) Mash through the gears
3) Listen for the sudden change in sound. It should sound something like this if you have VTEC: vrooooooommmBAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWW

Damn, my Y8 never sounded like that - the dealer must have screwed mine up when I bought it. Dammit.

You're talking about a DOHC. The VTEC on an SOHC sounds like this:

vrooooooooooooooooooooooOoooooommmm!

(You can't hear a thing)

Or should I say:

MeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeEeeeeeeeeeee!

localy we have this turm for a group of SRT owners, we call them the Factory Fast Faggots, & they get smoked by honda guys constantly... sry, just had to toss that tad bit of info in there..

still love the knowlage that u have to offer the board andy!
