Default Purchase Power!!!!

I know the title of this thread makes u go :eh: but it was the first thing to pop in my head. But the question today is are there any places that you can recommend where i can purchase a D16Y8 or a D16Z6 with all necessary parts for a complete swap. What are your recommendations?

the d15b is close enough to a d16y8

d15b is a 3-stage vtec engine (from my understanding, anyways), and it came on JDM civics, more notably the 99-00 ferio Vi-RS.

it rates around 130 hp, maybe 135 hp.

they're selling it as just the engine, no tranny. It will pretty much bolt right in. but it should come with the head, block, intake mani, exaust mani, distributer cap, etc. It might not include an airbox, but thats not a major deal

even if it doesn't include some of that stuff, you can use d16y8 parts with it, and in some cases, d16z6.

Is that good if so I will purchase that and just go and buy a auto tranny from the graveyard that's the same model and year as mine. So basically im just gonna get a new 92 LX tranny since i have a feeling mine is going bad. And im gonna use a short ram instead of getting a air box. So all i will need is the axels, and ECU??

I'd suggest a 92-95 EX auto (95 probably being the best choice, but whatever has lowest milage).

ex's have better gear ratio's than lx's. well, they're shorter, anyways.

if gas milage is a big issue, then go with the lx tranny. Also, a stock EX airbox should bolt right up if you install the engine correctly.

axles should be fine, but you might need an EX ecu. Not too sure on that one, tho...

a better place to look for a tranny might be a reputable tranny rebuilding shop...

also, its suggested to change the water pump and timing belt while they're easily accessable (ie, engine is out of car)

Not all of them. Most where basic SOHC VTEC engines, much like a 1.5l mini-me hybrid with beefier rods, higher compression and hotter cams. Hell, even the three stage version is only as useful as a standard VTEC performancewise (so those who don't know any better don't get any ideas.)

A D15B is a poor substitute for a D16Z6/Y8, IMHO. It's lower displacement, which means lower torque regardless.

From my understanding, for some reason the importers are carrying over metric standard PS ratings as horsepower. Granted, the German word "pferdstarke" translates directly over to "horsepower," but the US standard horsepower is actually stronger then the metric horsepower. Granted, it's only around 1hp to 1.014ps, but you lose a few HP in the translation. In this case, the D15B is kicked down from 130hp to 128hp, only three horsepower more then the relitively low compression US D16Z6 and identical to the still somewhat low compression US D16Y8.

Im just gonna get a D15 or a D16 from somewhere. Hmotorsonline.com has a D15 Long block with at most 35,000 miles on it. That sounds good to me.
