go local. IMO, paying for shipping for a d-series negates their cost advantage. I found a z6 with transmission and ecu for $500 locally. Now factor in shipping (hmotors is in california), and you're paying 50-75% more than what the motor is worth. They're abundant enough... check local websites, shops and junkyards.

a dohc zc will be harder to get your hands on if you're outside of california, so expect to either wait around a while or pay for shipping.

That's somewhat of a pain-in-the-ass swap unless you can get an uber-rare OBD-1 ZC, all for a couple horsepower and an extra cam.

The ZC actually is a D-series anyway.

well, as kai mentioned, getting an obd1 zc isn't easy, and if you get the obd0 one, expect wiring headaches.

why are you keeping it an auto? to stay "pimpish"?

if your gonna go through thte trouble of doing a swap you might as well make it worth it. converting to a standard isnt that hard as long as you have some technical know how. i say buy a complete z6 or y8 5spd swap from a local junkyard buy a pedal assembly, clutch lines/slave cylender, rear mount and tranny mount and start yourself a nice weekend project that you'll be happier with in the long run.

p.s. sorry i fi came off as hostile bu tim a little lit up
