A B18C1 can be built all-motor to be better than the B18C5 AND cost less too? Could you explain? I was under the impression that the B18C5 was a superior motor to build up for N/A applications (one example: higher cost to port and polish a B18C1 versus paying extra for a B18C5). Lemme know; I had given up all hope of an affordable all-motor build-up for my gsr.

Maybe I should ask in the engine forum

Right, but if your going to build/bore the block, why not just get the B18C block without all the expensive honda type-r internals in it already because they are just going to get replaced. get the block resleeved etc.

The type-r head is NOT a port/polish B18C head. its port/polish B16A head. The B16A head was found to flow better than the B18 head, so they used that when specing out the type-r motor

Power is also in the gearing. If your going track and N/A the type-r tranny is the way to go.

Buying a type-r swap and then ripping it apart and boring/building it up is like purchasing the factory alloy wheels and spoiler for your car when you know your just going to take them off and go aftermarket. why pay for the same stuff twice?

ok heres the skinny on the s2000 motor. It does fit. is it a reasonable swap?? HELL NO!!! a shop in texas did both the s2000 and the RSX type S motor in 6th gen civics. The only reason they did this was to show the capabilities of there shop. I could'nt imagine the time and money that went into it. Plus its hard to get a f20c, my buddy sells them for 9500$ and theres almost no profit on it.

Judging by the fact that you own a Z06, i imagine you got some cash. So i agree with others on this post by saying the b18c5 is the best choice for the money. I can sell you one for 3700 plus shipping. unless you live in AZ

Tony the Tiger on Honda-Tech (who said that! :ugh: ) and I think also on this site way back when, has a GS-R putting down about 220-230hp N/A at the wheels. I'm sure he's above 250hp at the crank. He has many Toda goodies under his hood.
