does the civic run a different ECU for manual or auto tranny's? Would i need an ECU from a manual to put in my manual CX? or are they the same? thanks guys

I'm almost positive they are different.

I did an auto to manual swap on my car, and I'm currently using my auto computer, and haven't had any problems. My car drives fine

I would think it would drive fine. But the auto's are four speed while the manuals are five speed. So I would think that there is a loss of something along the way.

dcivicHB... what motor are you replacing the ecu for? Is it your stock cx engine? That matters more than the transmission because its fuel trims are set to the engine's output and capabilities more than it is to transmission control.

Don't civic automatics have TCU's? I don't know because I don't mess with autos... If they do, the transmission is controlled separately from the ECU. Mitsubishi uses TCU's so it's not uncommon to imports.

PS: I have a perfectly good working CX manual tranny ECU (P05) sitting here.

All you need is a P06 ECU. It won't matter if it's manual or auto. It can even come from an LX, but if you find a DX P06, you're golden for sure.

Edit: For good measure... if you find one on ebay... Ask the seller to provide you with the serial # on it before you buy or bid. It's on a label on the side. Give all of those numbers to a Honda parts counter and they will tell you for sure if it will work on your year chassis. I think there might be something funky on the 92's, but from what I gather 93-95 are the same.

you can always do the opposite of this to your existing ECU as well.
the instructions are for the P28 but your ECU should be almost identical.
