fuel line Q
i had my car in for a tune up recently and they had some trouble removing the fuel line from the fuel filter. the fitting for the line from the tank to the filter had rusted itself in and wouldnt budge, even after soaking it in lube for a week. they recommended i hit a salvage yard and find a replacement line (they would most likely break it if they tried to remove it) but i had no luck. i ended up ordering a replacement line from a honda oem parts supplier. i was wondering if anyone has replaced this part before and if i should just take it back in to have it replaced professionally, or is it a simple install? either way i need to have the fuel filter replaced, so my 2nd Q is are aftermarket fuel filters any better than a filter i would get at a local tune up shop?
What lube? PB Blaster works best for me- soak about 2 hours. Although I remember getting cut knuckles from loosening the nut because it was on so tight , it came off. Did you try it yourself? I just use parts store filters, 270,000 miles no fuel problems.
aem fuel filter has the fram element in there. so just pickup the $10 filter from advanced auto.
As for the line. I've personally never replaced it, but just follow the original line back to where it goes. I'm sure it isn't too hard to do. Plus as slim as it is, I shouldn't be to hard to wiggle in and out the car.

The easiest thing to break those lines loose are flare wrenches. Some people call them line fitting wrenches. Either one is right. Put a pair of those on there, and squeeze them together. It will pop loose, rust or not. I've done it with and without them, and I'll never do it without them again. Sears stocks them in metric sizes, and you can buy just the one you need once you know what size to get.
Just make sure you have all the copper crush-washers you need to put it all back together.
