Default should i do it?

as most of you know i just bought my new car, a 95 EX coupe with 172,000 miles, mostly cosmetics right now, but as oldhead of HAN will tell you im all function, yea the car looks good IMO and i have an LS swap sitting in my garage, but ive always wanted and integra and i miss my GSR motor really bad. anyhow a body man i used to know bought a 95 GSR that was totaled, fixed it drove it for a while (was involved in another minor accident) and sold it to a buddy of mine. He rarly drives it and it only has 93,000 miles but its an R-title.

anyhow back to the story so we're hanging out last night and he mention selling it, so i offered him a trade for my car with the swap and a new exhaust (need to buy one yet). i told him if we keep our suspension and wheels (it has 99 blades on it) he could keep the ZEX kit he just put on it about a week ago (prolly sprayed 6 times).

long story short:

i could trade my car with my swap for an R-titled GSR in very good condition for my car. i get to keep my suspension, and wheels. he gets to keep his ZEX kit. and dont hand me shit about the motor being sprayed on cause its only been on for a week and the bottle is nearly full. the car has 80,000 miles less than my car and runs great. what should i do?

I personally would never be hot on the idea of trading my car for damaged goods. I guess it would depend on how bda the damage was on these two wrecks.

After doing a long, close inspection of the GS-R... I'd do it.

as long as the GSR has a good frame on it & isn't going to do weird things like wear tires un-evenly & what not.. it sounds like an awsome deal.. especially since you would be saving your self a crap load of work from not swapin! haha u'r call tho.. i guess it all depends on how much you like the body & shape & if u love your civic or not.. personaly i see it this way.. anyone can buy a car with a b18 in it!

well the way i look at it most civic people with civics buy parts from an integra to make it better correct? so why not just buy a teg?

i do still have to do the swap in my car reguardless, but im doing that the 14'th or so cause its when i get back from the beach.

honistly the car was fixed correctly, i know the previous owner and watched him drive it probolem free for almost 2 years, i mean it was his car, he didnt half ass it when he fixed it. the kid just bought it about midway through last summer and barly drives it, he has a 95 accord as a daily/winter driver.

As far as im concerned id love to do it but i just dont like the fact that its an r-title, even though i am certain it was fixed correctly. I just htink tegs are more mature cars than civics and being that im on my third civic i think its time for an upgrade.
i am seriously considering this deal.

if i keep my car its getting new shoes, JDM headlights, and getting sprayed a......unique color for next year. than i'll buy a b16 longblock and begin a project with a GSR bottom end i have in my garage *wink wink*

Dangerous proposal...
Avoid salvaged cars at all cost... you NEVER know what you're buying (or trading) into.

all I gotta say is good luck trying to sell that GS-R down the road for any kind of money...yeah sure now it seems like a good idea but it will screw you in the end

Because alot of the civic stuff is cheaper, the civic is lighter, and has less amnemities that most people take out in the first place?

I like tegs, dont get me wrong, but civics have their advantages

P.S. I wouldnt do the trade, even if the teg had a perfect frame I think youd screw yourself over.

I'd say do it! Assuming the car was fixed correctly, the only real downside to an R-title is resale value (or even finding a buyer willing to buy one). I'm still not really sure what exactly happened to your #2 Civic, but so far, resale hasn't really been an issue so far for you. A '95 Integra with 100k miles isn't really going to be worth that damn much in a year or two anyway if you do decide to sell it or trade it in.

I'd definately put it up on jackstands and give it a serious check for anything that could be a major issue but I'd probably go for it.

salvage cars aren't that bad. Just depends on how bad they're crashed. Shoot, a car gets stolen and recovered; considered salvage. Not bad at all, just a title. I like salvage cars and have driven many of my friends', no problems at all. Didnt even know it was until they told me. It's up to you though. Nice little teg vs. Civic w/ Swap. They are the same years and all...... If it was a 98+, I'd tell you to scoop it up right then and there. But yeah, GSR's are good cars and PULL HARD!
