the bottom line is ANYTHING other than STOCK lighting is CONSIDERED illegal. BUT, it all depends if the cop is a dick or not.

you're exactly right.

However, there are often things that are "stock" taht are illegal...I.E. lack of mounting holes for front license plate.

My nieghborhood poilice are pretty calm about loud exhaust and lighting, they love to pull people over that draw atttention to themselves, like all the high school kids with their "TYPE R" cavaliers and S-10's with the 4 12's in the trunk and light up windshield washers, thats what the cops around here look for, and street racing

Stock is unarguably legit. HID's and Blue bulbs, wether they are "legal" or "not illegal" may get you pulled over. It's all up to the descretion of the officer and wether or not he/she wants to be a b!tch about something stupid. If they want to, they WILL give you a ticket. You may contest it but you better have some proof that it's all legal. If not, then your paying the ticket. And how often to you get something with your bulbs stating that they are 100% legal?? ....nough said

DOT numbers are what are on cars. anything that can be put on a car, that is recognised by the DOT puts a # on it. its like having a chasity code on your car for insurance. all it does is identify the product with the dept of transpertation. it can be for on/off road whatever.(please correct me if i'm wrong blake)
