Default DMV Problems

I have a 1998 Honda Civic EX and i have a Thermal EXhaust classic the DMV keeps telling me that it is illegal and i called thermal and they said that it is legal, but the DMV wont even inspect it to see if it is legal or not they just look at it and say that it is illegal. Anyone in CT that could help me or anywhere it would be nice because they are being real a$$holes. Thanks

What is the law in CT? Is any "modified exhaust" illegal, or is it the noise violation? Is this for inspection? You could throw a stock axleback on for the visual and then switch them back out.

I was thinking that but the DMV says that there are no baffels in the tip, but thermal said that there is no law stating that there has to be baffels. I think that the DMV is just trying to be a dik to me. I might just throw a axel back tip on for the visual. The law is just on noise i think i think that it is like 79 decibels or something.

What is this for exactly? For state inspection or is there something to directly go to the DMV for? I mean, the only thing the DMV does for me directly is license paperwork (of course the inspection shops are DMV approved, you know what I mean).

Thermal said that the only complience that they can give is for California because they said that other states have nit given anyone trouble. I think that the DMV is just trying to be dicks to me. This is because i was racing one night and a cop pulled me over and gave me a warning ticket fir inspection so if i do not pass this i will lose my registration. Im trying to go through were i bought it which is Manchester Honda which is a honda dealershhip so im gunna see if they can help me. Thermal said that Manchester Honda has helped people when they had to go.

Something else to think about is Thermal is trying to sell a product. They will do what ever they can to keep selling that product and not have you return it (i.e. "It's legal"). I would do what I could to pass inspection. The prevailing organization is always going to be the DMV, they say whether you can or cannot be on the road regardless of what a company trying to make money selling car enhancements says. Good luck to you, but my advice would be to get a stock rear section and just try to pass for now. I hope all goes well. You know you can only blame yourself for getting pulled over for racing (not a flame).

where in CT do you live? im in east haven, if you have the stock exhaust just put it on when you go to inspection and you wont have any problems. but thats weird though cuz i went through emissions a few months ago and my car passed with flying colors
