It is all in the driver and the car has allot of potential given the right driver. The motor is mechanicly sound and running to its full potential another thing is that the stock clogged exhaust might have somthing to do with his sh*t times or that the camber is so far off on the front wheels that about half the tire is touching the ground or possibly the full tank of gas????. so dont think that the car is runing crap times because of the motor itself, it is running to its full potential, and yes vtec is engaging, trust me if the motor was not running right it would be damn hard not to smoke the tires in the first three gears.
just curious but you call yourself a mechanic, but when you do swaps do you normaly leave sensors unwired.. come on man.. if having it hooked up would "do more damage then good" then something is wrong. the sensor is there for a reason... the car is said to be throwing another code... i guess you just have not had time to fix it?????, because i KNOW no true mechanic would let a customer RACE the car with OBVIOUS BLATENT problems...

i mean it is a KNOCK SENSORS!!!!! not a seatbelt wire.. or parking brake light....

i can see it now..

customer: whats that...
mechanic: oh that there... um thats just your o2 sensor wire
customer: should it just dangle like that..
mechanic: absolutely not.. you are completely correct **insert mechanic cutting wire completely off and handing to customer** therewe go...

As previously stated. The knock sensor is there to help the engine detect detonation. If detonation is detected, it will PULL timing. Thereby reducing power. Some people don't like them. You will have more power with it unwired than wired. It's just dangerous as hell. The supra has two of them and I love them both except when I'm losing.

think about what you are saying.. IF it detects knock.... IF it detects knock you should GET OFF THE THROTTLE IMEDIATELY DETONATION DESTROYS MOTORS!!! there is no LOGICAL reason to not have it wired.. if the engine is running correctly there should not be knock... if there is knock.. something is wrong... as stated b4... its not an ebrake light... or some other useless thing.. its very important.. and the idea that someone would delibrately disconnect this is stupid to me...

you wil NOT have more power with it unwired, the only time that could be true is if something is wrong.. these are just my thoughts... if im wrong PLEASE correct me..

I can fix that in no time, it is a single wire I must run to D3 on the ecu plug. My main concern is the CODE 10, Intake Air Temperature... I don't know why it is failing. I have a 97 gs-r harness on this motor, but still....I dont see why the sensor on the motor shouldnt work with this harness......I wonder if I need to buy a gs-r IAT sensor....or possibly relocate it. Mine is currently in the intake we cut a hole and screwed into the intake near the throttle body...

Btw, yes I am a noob at stick driving, but I have a sense something isn't right, and I know something is wrong....I just hope this sensor error has something to do with the idle....

here we go i am not a mechanic in no way im just pretty handy with a wrench and we decided to do a swap ourselves. Oh yea he did not pay for this swap it was 100% free jack ass, and for what the price of 2600$ from honda they will do everything i did plus hook up one wire. Zip it dude its just a wire. yes it is one wire that wont go un noticed, the car has only been running for about two weeks and yes the IAT sensor is shot (its off the original motor). When we went to the track i was a driver of my own vehicle and he drove his, besides the amount of people at the track only allowed us to run twice. next time me and my brother who are both expirienced drivers, are going to run this car and let everyone here know what happend.... happy:fawk:

if you're not a mechanic, you shouldn't go around telling people you are :dunno:
