Wire through firewall???
Check the fusebox. Should be a connection or two that go directly to the battery. Not fuses, but dedicated power. Should be a constant and a key on source. I used this connection for my CD changer. It should look like a male plug stickng out under all of the fuses.

Thanks for all the help guys!! I found a good place to run it through. I think I'm going to go through the hole below the battery.
My deck should be here tomorrow,(it went in for warranty work last week) and I'll install it on Friday after classes.
Origanally it was hooked through the factory radio harness. The car stereo shop didn't hook it up as per recommended. That scared me, so I wanted to do it right now that it's out again.
lkailburn: You and me are one and the same man!! Sometimes it takes me over an hour to change the oil in my car. I spent three days changing out my shocks. Slow and steady always gets it done right the first time!!

hahahah agreeed
I know you guys have already sorted this out... but screw electrical tape. You don't need to go find a grommet anywhere to fit the hole assuming your stereo is a permanent installation... Just get a drill bit a little bigger than the wire (because rubber stretches and closes back down smaller than the hole you drilled), drill out the factory plug and pass it through to make your own grommet. It's a lot neater that way, and equally as waterproof. That will keep it from touching any bare metal or cutting any insulation. The grommet is a real bitch to get back in there if you put a big wire through it because the ventalation duct is so close to the hole on the other side.
