Default b18c vs. b16a vs. type r

out of these three which would you reccomend on a budget?

I have a friend who saw my b18 and is interested in a swap. I gave him tons of info on each of these motors...

the b16a 92-95 supercharged with aftercooler, etc.
the b18c gsr 94-01 turbocharged with intercooler, etc.
and the 96+ type r engines with built up components...

with a limited budget... around 4500 total, which would you do?

i reccomended to him the type r... ride stock for a while and upgrade as you go, but he's not into the idea of dropping that much into JUST THE ENGINE...

so i guess he's stuck between the b18 and b16.... I'm not familiar with the b16, so being an owner of the b18 i reccomend that...

can the b16 put out as much power?

4500 wouldn't be enough for a B16a and a vortech kit. It also would be cutting it pretty close for a B18c and a *decent* turbo kit. B18c + turbo is the better bang/buck. The B16a + vortech would be OK in the 1/4, but would be more of a hassle on a daily basis, plus a little harder to install.

true, or B20 turbo or B16a trubo (gotta be more careful with the tuning with these options). A turbo kit is generally cheaper to put together than a vortech kit.

H22 Swap are very very very streetable. You just need higher spring rates in the front and if you really get into a rear sway bar... thats hardly major suspension work. basically its a good swap for anyone who doesn't autocross, but i know some guys who autocross their H22 Civics and don't have too much trouble.
H22 Swap installed equals about $4000 (thats for mounts, axles, swap, etc) talk to Newman on H-T, or Brian at HASport if you don't believe me...

plus, if you have a 6th Gen, H22 is completely bolt-in

I hardly think high performance springs and a rear sway bar are major suspension mods...

your criticizing your friend for hearing stuff on the 3rd hand, yet the only thing you know about this swap was heard 3rd handly. an so on and so forth.

I just think many of HAN's newer members post things without really researching it first, so if you don't know or have no experience you shouldn't post about that PARTICULAR subject matter.
