A-spec is weak. All looks and no performance added.

I can't imagine this one being any better than the coupe. I didn't like it.

So, we're back to where we were in the conversation.

I dig both the IS and the TSX; but I'm hearing that neither would be an ideal choice for AutoX. <argh....>

I'm realy liking the dark (graphite) gray or whatever they are calling it.
In stock trim to autoX I'd think the IS would dominate the TSX, more torque and better handling...I think with a bigger rear sway bar, strut tower brace and decent tires the TSX would be right there with it though...

edit: if you really want a good autoX car why not look at the late 90s civic SI or an integra GSR or type R?

I drove both of them. It's just a beefier version of the 250.

The steering is again too refined, otherwise it's a nice car. The power is definitely there but it's more like a 3-series than a TSX

The 250 was made for the lexus audience. It was made to just be another good option for lexus loyals and those wanting to be loyals without the bankroll.

I'd wait for the V8 if you really want a sports car though.

Either car you can't go wrong. Which you want front or rear drive. Hp, is close although a 4 cyl vs 6.
About the TSX you can use a RSX-S head to give you more torque. I would get the Acura. Also, in Japan it's a Euro Accord-R vs a Toyota Alteeza.
Good Luck. Gas cheaper to fill up TSX also with these gas prices now

you do realize TSXs need premium gas as well?

Great write up. Very informative. I haven't test driven either but if most things are equal as you say, I'd steer toward the TSX simply based on looks. The TSX just has a sharper classier look to it than the IS300 IMO. Mileage is reported better as well with 20/28 for the TSX and 16/23 for the Lexus. Both use premium so that isn't a variable in the comparison.
