I've used summit before, especially when I was building my motor. Thanks for the real-world opinion man. :goodjob:

I used slotted rotors on our 96 Civic CX HB when we had it and they were no better overall than the plain rotors. One other thing to consider is that you will not be able to have slotted or drilled rotors resurfaced at all but a very few shop-and some race groups do not allow the drilled ones due to a known issue with cracking. For a source of supply-check with Summit; great seervice and pricing for us so far.
You did an HPDE with AEM pads??? I went through a new set of AEM pads and totally lost my brakes (Valvoline Synpower brake fluid) during my HPDE at VIR.

AEM pads are not great track day pads

So far we have run at BeaveRun, Pocono-long course and Watkins Glen with no brake issues using the AEM pads. I am not super hard on brakes to begin with. When there has been a need on track to get on them really hard-they are always there for me. I use nothing but Honda or FORD HD brake fluid and NO boiling so far.
This has been my experience with 2 fast cars and the only problem we ever had was with a set of stock pads on the Prelude at The Glen. Changed them out and the problem went bye-bye. Will I go to Carbotech or Performance Friction on the CRX-maybe when I finally do an enduro or am on a very tight track. VIR has its moments but no worse than Summit or BeaveRun in my opinion. Just my experiences so far with the CRX in particular.
For those who autocross I do not feel that super performance brake pads and rotors will do that much overall. If you are racing on a course where there is little time for the brakes to cool down-then you will want something more heat friendly.

Just so's ya know, the Si hatch has the smaller 9.5" front discs from the non-EX Civics and the same rear discs as the Integra. The EX, Integra and '99-'00 Si have 10.4" front discs. You want a prop valve from one of those cars if that's the brake setup you're going to use.

I disagree. Yes the brake don't get super hot and you don't have to worry about overheating issues but better pads still allow you to brake later and thus get you a faster time.

I agree too. With my Hawk HP+ pads and Brembo blanks I was able to brake much later than my AEM pads and same rotors. And the feel of the Hawk HP+ pads were much better feed back.
