I have my banking through Bank of America. I signed up for "MyAccess" checking:

MyAccess checking is free with a monthly direct deposit. Otherwise, the monthly maintenance fee is $5.95 a month.

And i also got a Visa Gold Card. Keep in mind i had just gotten my first job a few weeks earlier... My credit limit is $700. Its for students, where anyone will qualify as long as you are in school. Qualify for $500 or $700 limits. No balance required(fee wise). think interest is like 14% but i pay it off each month when i use it = no interest.
