Shitty tuning due to the blue box. With a REAL kit he would have been making a lot more power.

Running in the real world is a very poor indicator of a car's performance potential.

me didn't read what everybody said but i highly recommend you check out the forced induction forum in hondatech.

i'd go custom and spend all my money on a top quality manifold and turbo, all the other stuff can be bought used without worries. and before it even gets hooked up i would get a stand alone or else kaboom!

Here's a good way to see it...

If you don't plan on going past 10 psi, then get the GReddy.

Otherwise, go custom or get a DRAG kit.

If you do plan on getting the GReddy, you don't need that big $900 intercooler, the small one is fine and you can get a PWR, Spearco, or Precision for much less. I run the Spearco intercooler that came with my DRAG kit, it's been proven up to 450+hp.

Figure the GReddy kit with an intercooler will put down ~230 whp on a GSR in its base configuration. Add a 3" cat and exhaust and you can probably up the number to ~240 whp. Pretty solid for something that will bolt on and work with no further tweaking.

sure i do, pop a greddy kit out the box onto a d16z6 motor.
pop an apexi kit out the box onto the same motor.

greddy will make the same whp (around) 200.
apexi will make the same.
both at 10 psi.
greddy will make like 140wtq.
apexi will make over 170wtq.

greddy on a b16 will make more power but doesnt have good curve figures. makes power at like 7grand, which by then, its too late, and playing catchup is gay. might as well get the vortech sc

my biggest thing is tuning. i dont know much about it. and i dont plan to go above 10psi at all. i want tomsething to make my car faster, but i dont want to make it into a 12 second drag car. something to play around with if you know what i mean

Again with the useless adjectives...

Fine, so out of the box, other kits will produce more peak power. But for those of us who aren't chasing 911s and Z06s in a FF platform probably aren't as concerned with overall numbers, as they are a driveable, reasonably quick car, not a traction limited, torque steering beast... And in CA, to stay smog legal, we have no other choice in the forseeable future.
[Trying to rein in 320 fwhp at 3500, in the rain, doesn't sound like my idea of fun. ]

And yes, the situation in CA sucks whale dong. Which is why my next project, after a few bolt-ons on the LS, will either be a 510 or first gen 280Z.

Nonetheless, I assume you understand the distinction I made earlier.
