Kingdom Hearts was whack. They spent too much time on the FMV sequences, but the gameplay itself was seriously lacking.
never heard of Suidoken
Xenosaga...I have that one. Haven't gotten around to playing it much yet, but from what I've seen and heard, it's gonna pull a Metal Gear Solid 2 on me...full of cutscenes, barely any gameplay.
I've never played a Breath of Fire game...but I'll rent this one and check it out.

Whatever happened to the kick ass RPGs like Chrono Trigger...nowadays they try to make all the weapon and character building systems way too complicated to enjoy the actual game.
Last good RPG I played was Golden Sun on the GBA.

Can i get a HELL YEAH.

Takes forever to get used to the new character-building systems... Thankfully KoTOR doesn't suffer from it... morrowind doesn't either, the skills you use are upgraded by using them over and over, a-la real life.

Chrono trigger was, and still is, the shiznit. I'll use the snes emulator to play it and ff2 and 3 all the time.

PS2 also gets all the good Konami games, too... I'm waiting for the Castlevania for the PS2, as well as Fatal Frame 2 and FF XI...

The PS2 has the worst hardware of the current-gen systems, but the best games and best controller.

yeap ... compare the first gen Dreamcast titles against the first gen PS2 titles. the DC's were cleaner and more colorful. if DC games were still being developed, they'd be up to par with Sony.

Actually, no. The DC is an inferior system to the PS2, in _almost_ every respect... the MPEG codec it employed sucked, as well as the media the DC used. What the DC had was smart, edge-based anti-aliasing and games that were well-designed to fit within the limitations of the system. They're (the systems) also starting to crap out badly.

The reason that the first gen PS2 games sucked was that it's FREAKING HARD to program for... After-launch titles like FFX and GT3 A-Spec (The original GT3 had some horrible graphics issues) completely tore past anything the DC had to offer.

Go ahead and compare RE Code Veronica for the DC and the PS2, and it's _very_ obvious why which system survived...

Well, that and Sega consistently soiled their name in the platform market with their 3-4 previous offerings...

The DC was a good system for it's time, but ill prepared to compete in the coming market of next-gen systems...
