Ok, I had a problem (i had a different member id) with a winsock problem that necessitated the COMPLETE removal of IE. If all else fails, you should be able to do the following & that will get it out. :dunno:

here is the thread link: https://www.honda-acura.net/forums/s...threadid=73932

here is the quote that shold do what i mentiond above:

here at work we call this the BIG ME FIX..... cause it is most apparent in windows ME... but works the same in 95 and 98. There is no diffrence with 98 and 98se.

1. Uninstall DUN and Internet Connection Sharing (Do not reboot).
2. Remove entire Configuration list from the Network control panel (Do not reboot).
3. Go into the registry and delete the two keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Winsock
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Winsock2
4. Reboot
5. Reinstall NIC, DUN and the PPPOE software. (As needed)
6. Reboot again.

Howto uninstall DUN: Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs->Windows Setup tab. Uncheck Communications and click ok. DO NOT REBOOT.

If that doesn't work... your probably lookin at a reinstall of windows.

all went well. except:

- i found out i couldnt keep my modem in my room because i have no phone jack in here. so my router is downstairs. but thanks to rick, i have wireless. so no biggie there.

- wireless was really fun to install. i stayed on the phone with rick for 2 straight hours trying to do it. :happysad:

- i havent gotten a chance to find a home for the router yet. so its sitting on top of the fridge. my brothers computer is getting signals just fine. but my logs on and off. so for now, its wired. still no bigger.

i now can never go back to dialup. thanks for all the help in the beginning man.
