the end ... nintendo is planning one more system to be announced early next year. they're planning to beat Microsoft and Sony to the next next generation platform. Sega tried this with 3 systems and failed badly. (genesis, saturn, and dreamcast)

Well, Nintendo should have been smarter when they developed the GC. The mini-disc's they used were not as versatile as the DVD format....AND the GC's functionality sucked compared to the PS and the Xbox....not to mention lack of online gaming and 3rd party software.

GC > PS2 and Xbox
Nintendo > *
The mini-discs they used are a DVD format, just a smaller disc.
I'm not sure what you mean by functionality.
Online gaming...whack.
3rd party software...they had it, but why? Nintendo makes the best games themselves.

I got me a Nintendo Gamecube Platinum edition, however, I haven't played it much since Metroid Prime and Zelda. Nothing on the cube really interests me. I still prefer playing the PS2 cuz there are better games on there. I like RPGs and Racing games!
h:
I still don't have an XBOX and don't plan on buying one!

I have many many more games on PS2 than on GC, but I've still play my GC way more because the PS2 doesn't have any good games. :dunno:

I like my GC and I will continue to buy games for it.

I know, PS2 has a lot of crap games out, while GC has more quality games, however, recently I've pulled out GTA: Vice City for PS2 and started playing it through again. Even though my job keeps me from playing it too much, but I play it when ever I can.

I think everybody's just put off by the "childish" image that the graphics give off... I guess they'd rather more "grown-up" games where you beat people with bats and steal their car...when in fact, the "childish" games are way more fun.
GC has:
Super Mario Sunshine
Pikmin
Luigi's Mansion
Zelda
Metroid Prime
Eternal Dark (now there's an adult one for you, and it's an excellent game)
Super Smash Bros. Melee
F-Zero coming soon (I'd rather play that than more realistic driving sims like Gran Turismo)
PS2 has:
Tekken Tag Tournament
NBA Street
SSX
wait...there's probably another one....
er, the genesis wasn't a failure. :slap:
and the DC was an awesome system. definitely underrated. and yes, a failure..
two of the things that screwed sega, in my opinion, were bad timing and bad marketing. but their systems were always ahead of the game. the genesis came out almost a full year ahead of the SNES. then there was the game gear vs. the game boy.. not to mention how long the dreamcast was out before the PS2, GC, and XBox came out.
ah well, they're sticking to arcades now, which is fine. their arcade games are better than most.

but the reason the DC was a failure was because of how easy it was to just burn games...Sega wasn't making any money. It is supposedly an awesome system, although I've never really played it.
The Genesis was a success, even though it sucked donkey balls compared to the SNES (Mortal Kombat blood code
)
sega game gear up until recently was the best hand held system, for some reason nintendo didn't catch on the the lighted back screen.
but the new advance SP is still not as bright as the old game gears, but they're still badass
