:squint:
Game Gear= x 39248912084190 Regardless of the backlight advantage. The graphics were shitty as all hell and the battery life was what? 10 minutes?
The Game Boy is the best selling video game system of all time.
The reason the SP isn't as bright as the game gear is because it's a front light, not a back light. I think the next generation handheld from Nintendo is gonna use that new lighting LCD technology (OLCD?)

the SNES game developers had Sega owned. Sega always had to play catchup by releasing gimicky addons, repackaged systems, and controllers with 6 buttons ... because the other guy had it.
(remember the genesis 2? it was almost the same dimensions as the SNES)
the core genesis was fine, but the damn add ons deemed it a failure that was always trying to keep up.
oh yea ...

:werd: I still have the original gameboy ever since I was 10, I have Gameboy Pocket, and Gameboy color. Also, I have like over 150 games.
h:I am planning on getting a Gameboy SP....this will be my 4th Gameboy. However, my job gets in the way and I can't play much games these days.

As for gay gear :ghey: I never owned one, but I knew people who did own them. The battery life sux big time and the games weren't as good as what was on the gameboy.
the reason nintendo still has funding to develop new games and a new system is because of the GameBoy. if the new Sony handheld lives up to the hype ... you'll see mario and link on PS2 soon enough.

Well, Nintendo should have been smarter when they developed the GC.

something tells me that the GC should have just come to the states in this package for $300.
The Panasonic Q (GC + DVD/VCD player)
LOL while I dig my GBA way too much (I've always been a sidescroller fan), the gamecube was lacking in a way. It only really had Nintendo games, and all the other good games (With the exception of Eternal Darkness and Resident Evil) were available for other platforms...
And they weren't able to pull an XBox without a halo-like game of their own...

hell yea. a game system has to do more than just play games to be sucessful. dvd integration, online capabilities, and games makes the PS2 a steal at $180.

the core system did well in sales, but it wasn't as close as most people think. the genesis' sales started to go to the crapper when the SNES surfaced. sega's reaction to the whole thing ... let's release a $300 cd based add on. it bomed. sega's reaction to the later generation games like Yoshi's Island and Mario Kart ... let's release a $200 32 bit add on. it bombed.

read that ^. there's plenty more where that came from, but that article seems to cover everything pretty well.
some highlights:
When the SNES was finally released in September of 1991, Sega realized that the first real threat to their grip on the 16-bit market had surfaced. Sega spent a massive amount of money on advertising, promoting its superior game line-up and showing pictures of its "still-in-development" Sega CD. Although it would be nearly two years before the CD made it to market, this stopgap tactic was ingenious. Sales of Genesis consoles and games only dropped slightly in the Christmas season of 1991.
The arrival of Sonic was a major blow to Nintendo. It proved that the Genesis wasn't as primitive as Nintendo wanted everyone to believe. New SNES software was slow to arrive in 1992, and Sega's huge third-party support helped carry them through the year, despite the fact that the promised Sega CD had yet to arrive in stores.
