I've been flying foamies made out of foamboard from dollar tree. The airframe for that cargo plane cost me about $20. The total I have in it is about $70. But you can stick a funbat together for about $30.

it depends on what kind of model. balsa kits can take foreeeeever, balsa arf only a couple of hours. foam is generally faster here's a good starter for someone just getting into it. just make sure you have a lot of room so you don't crash into people/houses/cars/trees and you'll be fine.

Yeaaaaaah buddy. I actually already ordered one from Hobby King. Picked up some turnigy nano-tech's for my 120sr, and figured I'd grab that while it's cheap.

I'd recommend getting a simulator before hopping onto the sticks. That way it wont be 15 seconds in the air followed by a drive home.

If you were getting a heli I'd say otherwise.

even with a sim it's still probably going to be 15sec in the air :chuckles: The nice thing about the homebuilt is they are cheap so it doesn't hurt as much. And the nutball is tough. Dad hit a light pole with his(twice) slap some tape and a new prop on and keep flying.

Yo goatse,

I picked up a d6xi today. Besides my two heli's, I want to pick up a plane. Any suggestions?

Must be:

-Capable of loops, inverted flying (4 channel?)
-Good head speed
-Non wood (read: can take a punch)
-~$120 BNF.

It will be my first plane, and I don't want any of that trainer shit. My thumbz is advanced. Must be all the battlefield I play. I don't want to spend $70, get bored in two weeks, then sink another bill into it. I've been on a sim, and can land consistently on all but jets. I know I know. Sim ain't real life pressures.

If I had a track or a good place around me I'd probably get into rc cars as well. But damn it, heli's and planes are expensive enough.

I'm out $400 for 2 hobby grade heli's and a computerized transmitter. And the transmitter and 1 heli were bought used.
