Sequoia Grove I think. The lady gave me a few choices and I picked the one with the classiest label.

Robert Mondavi has always been a good one IMO....looks like I was a little late in posting though.

I just found out that Robert Mondavi is not actually part of the Mondavi family. The vines got sold and they are only keeping the name. Mondavi have some hit or miss stuff.

There are a lot of really good vinyards in NorCal. You don't really need to spend $40 to get a good bottle. You may find that she likes Merlot, particularly if you are going to buy it and drink it, rather than buy it and hold onto it a few years before drinking.

Jordan, Silver Oak, Stags Leap and Kenwood make some pretty darn good cabs. There are so many places putting out really top shelf wine. If she is really into it, maybe get her one of those wine of the month things. They send a bottle or two every month, gives you a chance to try out a variety.

Classically-structured, with the unmistakable aromas of currants, espresso and bacon.

Over the last year my wine knowledge has grown exponentially... but unfortunately it is only in Italian/Italian international varietals and producers. Looking forward to learning more about French and American stuff though.

Silver Oak is probably still one of my top cabs...but they are $100 bottles. Their 2008 release was fun

Duckhorn is pretty GD good too, and it ain't no Benjamin per bottle. I like the Coppola and Clos du Bois stuff too. I am not as familiar with some of the wines from farther South in California, but there are plenty of them too. I don't think the vineyards from the Pacific NW are as good, for the most part. I like their beer a lot though.

I have had a lot of outstanding wines from Chile too. This one little old lady patient of mine brings me a bottle for Christmas.

Nelson, try go check this out, if you like the conundrum, oops, looks like none until next April, sorry
