Default MCSE questions

Mostly directed towards the IT people

A local college started offering courses in MCSE Certification

they are

CDA 2500 Network Technology
CDA 2523 Windows XP Professional
CDA 2525 Windows 2000 Server
CET 2497 Windows 2000 Network Infrastructure
CTS 2302 Windows Directory Services Infrastructure
CTS 2310 Designing Security For Windows Network
CTS 2300 Design Network Services Infrastructure
CTS 2320 Managing Windows Network Environment

Now I heard that you could just get the books and study them and just take the exams

which routes have you or would you take?

The classes are way more expensive, but I might pass quicker
whill just the books are cheaper but harder

BTW, I am also open for Cisco A+, Network+ and Unix/Linux Cert.

Don't be a paper IT guy, hands on experience is what truly matters.

I deal with a lot of IT managers with my work. While the certs are good, if all you did was study a book, they'll be able to weed you out in interviews. Certs are good, but its very important to get hands on experience to truly know what you're doing with those certs.

Oh and in the interviewing process, they WILL ask you technical questions that require actual experience to answer them. A lot of companies in Cali.. the MCSE cert doesn't mean shat anymore, it's all about Univ. Degrees.

Well my plan would be to take the courses

while going to local computer shops to try and volunteer on Networking jobs to get my hands on experience, if not make it a part-time job

I have been reading more into it the Cisco way looks more appealing

trust me I know about shit like that

i.e my air force experience

one thing to read a Technical Manual and sorta know it, another to actually work on the engine and be able to troubleshoot and fix it

courses are too expensive for me. i'm just buying books, reading them and doing hands-on at the same time i'm reading them so i can visually see it working.

i should be taking my CCNA test at the end of the month

...and i've seen many positions that REQUIRE you to have certain certs to even get your resume looked at.
