Go to classes, it pays off!! I work in technical support right now. You have to start off low.

True, but it's a decent method for those just starting out, you learn a lot, especially with hands on training. My school is really big on technology

Just from my experience of talking to IT managers, you can tell which ones are paper MCSE's and those who actually know what they're doing.

But do you know what the hell you're doing? I see these schools around here and they talk about people getting certified in a few months, but the fact is they still dont know a god damn thing, and they take up the jobs, and when employers realize they know nothing, they raise the bar, and people like me can't get a job.

It really depends. If you really wanted to get MSCE there are boot camps that offer a one or two week crash course for MSCE. Also there is several tests you have a choice on what to take
http://www.microsoft.com/traincert/m...quirements.asp

for the A+ it is not from Cisco per say but Comptia. Cisco offers CCNA and CC some or other. A+ is a great starting point. I would recommend you get A+ and then look at MCSE, and then maybe look at CCNA or Network+ Server+ certs.

It depends also on how you study or prepare. a boot camp might be good but if you want some hands on experiience take the classes.

Man I hope that made some sense. Insomina pwns me.
