What to do.
Accessory to urinating in public is a serious crime. 5 years in FPMITAP, minimum.
But seriously, be polite and apologetic to the judge. Tell them your friend was going to urinate no matter what you did, and that you were just standing nearby waiting for him to finish. But I would try and figure out what kind of penalty you might be facing beforehand, in case you really do need a lawyer or something. There should be a number on the ticket you can call to find out more info.

And this
Two feet was more than enough for the stupid tart that wrote off my mint condition first-gen Stumpjumper back in HS.
Another foot more and she could have crippled or killed me.
As for the pissy situation at hand:
Educate yourself on the law first.
If they've got you dead-to-rights, own up to it.

i got caught pissing in the corner of a back alley one night by a state trooper about 7 years ago. he was like "HOLD IT THERE" and i fucking ran as fast as i could. I went through a thin alley and then ducked down. i took off my hat and jacket and went left to where the crowd was thinning out. i think the statey went right towards the crowded bars. i met up with my friend in his car and rode away. WIll never piss in public again. fuck that registering as a sex offender bullshit if you piss in public.
edit*
usually lawyers give a free consultation. I would call up a lawyer in the Chicago area and talk to one. talk to a couple and see if anyone knows the attorney general prosecuting your case. If this is your first time, you might just get a slap on the wrist or a couple hours community service.
