Well, in my experience....the user will get an unknown host but gets good replies by IP means a winsock problem. I mean this is assuming he didn't specify the wrong DNS and that the ISP's DNS is working correctly.
This happens on Win98/ME quite a lot. I get at least 2 of these per weeks back in the days. It doesn't happen on 2K and XP...obviously

To the installer:
Good Luck bro
I know our company wouldn't even allow us to touch Winsock problems.

the laptops they give us to use are how should I say this.........SHIT!!!!
they are 233mhz p2s/2 gig hdd/16mb ram/WIN95!!!!
as far as us doing registry repairs, it's our discretion. "TECHNICALLY" this is a user repair not us. I just hate not getting something to work.
The way I look @ it is they signed the waiver, so if they want me to try & fix it, I/company isn't liable. No waiver=no pc work/install
