I am glad I had to work for my cars. Even if I am rich I want my kids to work for their cars and not get everything handed to them on a silver platter. They won't appreciate it as much as if they worked for it. And they won't have the respect for it.

Cant shelter them forever, they have to learn some responsibility sometime. Not the easiest thing to have your kid do, but they'll be a better person when all said and done, probably a bit more bitter towards the silver spooners, but what can you do. :fawk:

i agree with both of these. i didn't have to work to get my car. i did have to work for gas money though. but being spoiled has pretty much ruined me. i still don't know "the value of a dollar", because i've never had to. it's not like my family is rich, my grandparents have just always been willing to give to me. i wish they wouldn't have, because now i still can't save money (not having a good paying job doesn't help) and i still depend on them in certain situations, and it pretty much sucks. but i have paid for everything that i've done to my car.

As long as the kid doesn't act like a dumbass then I'm fine with it. If people have money what's to say they can't spend it on a car for their kid?

Granted, if they're an ungrateful bastard that expects the car rather than understands the generosity behind it and drives like a retard to boot, then that's a problem.

my buddy has a 3 million dollar trust fund for when he turns 29, his dad is worth 47 million. he used to wear ripped jeans and flannel shirts and a ski hat to public school, (he left private school because it was too snooty). he used to drive a 1998 grand cherokee to school but we called him a yuppie so he took the bus or sometimes this old beat to hell olds 88. when he turned 18 his pa said he could have any car he wanted and dude chose a fully loaded 2000 buick regal...thats the kind of spoiled rich kids i like  sometimes we go to his house and his mom orders pizza. like 7 pizzas for 5 people
