Will building up on a lot of protein but not working out really help build more mass? I was thinking about trying this then going back to working out to define all of the mass gained. What sympl said kind of made sense

no b/c if u dont use it then it gets stored as fat

Yea but I'm 6'2" 175 lbs so I'm not that big. Plus I have pretty high metabolism which should burn it off. At least if I lift lightly like only doing 125 lbs for 3 sets should be ok rather than trying to gain a lot fo strength or would this be taking a step backwards?
